Sourced from Kyoto, Uji — the spiritual and historical heart of Japanese matcha — this is a pure single cultivar expression of Samidori, developed in 1939 by legendary breeder Koyama Masajirou.
Unlike modern hybrids, Samidori was designed specifically for shaded teas, with upright-growing leaves that allow for precise, efficient hand-picking — a detail that demands skill, not scale. It remains one of the few classic cultivars still central to traditional matcha production today.
Cashew milk, green apple and sweet plum, layered over clean umami and a silky body with a bright, lingering finish.
