Saemidori Matcha
Crafted by Azuma Tea Garden, a family farm rooted in Wazuka, Kyoto since 1868 and renowned for growing tea without pesticides or herbicides. Across five generations of craft and care for the land, the family has kept one simple promise: only make tea they'd drink themselves.
Saemidori, whose name means "clear green", is a cultivar prized for its vivid colour and gentle character. Azuma dries its leaves in a traditional brick tencha furnace. The slow, even heat draws out the leaf's natural sweetness and gives the tea its distinctive roko, a toasted furnace aroma.
In the bowl, this single-cultivar matcha is a vivid green. It opens with that warm, toasted fragrance and a roasted, nutty character, then settles into velvety umami and soft sweetness, finishing clean.
Harvested as ichibancha, the year's first and finest flush, and 100% stone-ground to a silky, fine powder.
